About This Role

Aligned with the Vision statement of HKIS, our Middle School educators are dedicated to nurturing learning environments that promote a socially engaged community of collaborative, creative, and resilient learners. We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to be imaginative thinkers, pursuing their passions and challenges through innovative teaching practices. Middle School teachers play a crucial role in empowering each student to demonstrate courage and confidence when confronted with challenges, while also equipping them with essential skills to adapt and succeed as learners.

Middle School teachers understand the significance of relationships in creating meaningful learning experiences for students both inside and outside the classroom. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Middle School educator with a passion for applying inquiry-based pedagogy in their teaching. They will inspire and motivate students to acquire knowledge and skills, focusing on fostering conceptual understanding and critical thinking. This individual will collaborate closely with teaching teams, learning support specialists, subject area teachers, curriculum leaders, coaches, and administrators to design integrated learning experiences that address the diverse needs of each student, offering enhanced choices while applying principles of differentiation.

HKIS faculty provide constructive feedback to students and parents to support learning and use assessment outcomes to inform instructional planning.

Communication:

  • The effective verbal and non-verbal interactions within the HKIS community (students, parents, and colleagues) in both formal and informal settings, ensuring clarity and accuracy of information. HKIS educators are adept at selecting the most effective medium and actively listening to promote mutual understanding of needs, issues, and concerns.

Collaboration and Professional Practice:

  • The strategies individuals employ to build, enhance, and sustain robust learning communities and professional relationships. Sharing insights regarding students, curriculum, and resources contributes to the overall success of the HKIS community.
