About This Role
GEMS Cambridge International School in Abu Dhabi is seeking a passionate and committed Math Teacher (KS3) to become part of our educational community starting August 2026. Overall Function and Purpose
The role involves teaching and educating students in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework, under the guidance of the relevant educational authority. You will assess and instruct your assigned students based on their educational needs, delivering the appropriate curriculum to ensure every student reaches their academic potential and contributes to the broader school community.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver the prescribed curriculum while demonstrating thorough and current knowledge of both curriculum and subject matter.
- Maintain a safe, tidy, and organized environment that promotes optimal student outcomes.
- Plan, prepare, and present lessons tailored to the varying abilities of all students in the class.
- Educate according to the educational needs, abilities, and achievements of individual students and groups.
- Engage in the implementation of the school's development plan.
- Assign, assess, and provide feedback on student work in accordance with the school’s marking policy.
- Set high expectations for every child, helping students to realize their potential and maintain exemplary standards in their work.
- Assess, document, and report on each student’s development, progress, achievements, and behavior.
- Analyze data to adapt classroom practices, ensuring all learners reach their full potential.
- Contribute to both oral and written assessments, reports, and references concerning individual or groups of students.
- Participate in assessments within a national framework for evaluating student performance.
- Support the general progress and well-being of individual students, groups, or classes assigned to you.
- Provide guidance on educational and social matters, as well as on further education and targets.
- Communicate and collaborate with fellow staff members, including those in special roles, as well as parents and guardians.
- Reflect on and evaluate your teaching strategies, methodologies, and programs in line with National Curriculum Framework guidelines to enhance classroom learning.
- Collaborate with the Head of School, Deputy Heads, Assistant Heads, Heads of Years, and other teachers in the development of curriculum design, teaching materials, programs, methods of instruction, assessment, and pastoral care.
- Uphold high standards of professional practice and quality in teaching and learning. Engage in constructive peer reviews and classroom observations with the Head of Year.
- Participate in ongoing professional development (CPD) opportunities and engage in action research.
- Maintain order and discipline among students in your care and ensure their health and safety at all times.
- Report any concerns regarding student safety, whether emotional or physical, to the school’s safeguarding officer.
- Attend staff, group, or other meetings related to the school curriculum or pastoral care to enhance school organization and administration.
- Contribute to the professional growth of new teachers and student teachers per agreements with the Head of School.
- Provide necessary information and advice to designated personnel regarding requisitions and arrangements related to your teaching responsibilities.
- Safeguard and ensure the optimal use of equipment regularly used in lessons, overseeing its maintenance.
- Safeguard the custody of the laptop, whiteboard pen, and remote provided to you upon starting.
- Engage in school assemblies and parent meetings as directed by the school.
