LIBRARIAN / TEACHER (PRIMARY SCHOOL) (Job Ref# A128-24-25)

The chosen candidate will oversee and enhance the library's operations and resources, working closely with the English lead to implement the reading scheme across the Primary School while also providing library instruction. Additionally, the individual will be responsible for teaching cover lessons and stepping in for absent staff.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering lessons that promote outstanding student learning aligned with the English National Curriculum for various year groups, from Early Years to Year 6.
  • Assisting the English Lead in analyzing student data related to reading to inform the planning of library and reading lessons.
  • Collaborating with the English lead to organize reading events and activities both on campus and within the community.
  • Creating opportunities for students to actively engage in their learning through hands-on activities, research, and investigations.
  • Overseeing the school's library and resources, including budgeting and ensuring efficient accessibility for all students and staff.
  • Managing library resources to ensure effective retrieval through systematic indexing, classification, and cataloging.
  • Exhibiting a strong passion for education and a commitment to being an active participant in the CPHS community.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution along with an internationally recognized teaching certification, such as a PGCE, Bachelor of Education, or H.Dip.Ed.
  • At least three years of teaching experience with a British-based curriculum.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Experience or a willingness to learn to manage Junior Librarian and/or similar Library Management Information Systems and other ICT software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity or a desire to be trained in the effective use of Accelerated Reader and Bug Club.
  • Capability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet established targets.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • A creative mindset to inspire and cultivate a love of reading within the school.
  • All staff are required to fully support and adhere to the Christian ethos of the school.

The salary for this position ranges from CI$48,000.00 to CI$62,000.00 per year, depending on experience and in accordance with the school’s salary point scale. Benefits include:
