About This Role
Job Title: Class Teacher
Responsible to: Principal
As a Class Teacher, your key duties will entail:
- Acknowledging and appreciating each child's diverse social, cultural, and religious backgrounds while exemplifying mutual respect and tolerance.
- Engaging in the oversight of pastoral care, health, welfare, and behavior for all students, with particular attention to those in your assigned class.
- Instructing a class in accordance with the school's established policies and guidelines.
- Utilizing a variety of effective teaching and nurturing strategies to provide high-quality learning experiences.
- Submitting planning documents that detail specific learning objectives, differentiated tasks, special needs accommodations, extensions, and assessments to the Principal or designated officer.
- Maintaining professional communication with colleagues about students while ensuring all information remains confidential.
- Guaranteeing that equal opportunities are available for every student.
- Inspiring children to take pride in their environment and to show respect and consideration for others, contributing to the nurturing community of the school.
- Overseeing all aspects of classroom management, including the care of equipment, ensuring resources are clearly labeled and accessible, and keeping the classroom organized and tidy.
- Fostering a vibrant and engaging classroom environment that promotes independent learning.
- Collaborating with the Principal and staff to develop and enhance effective pupil assessment procedures and moderation portfolios.
- Keeping precise records of each child's accomplishments and providing reports as required.
- Cultivating positive relationships with the parents of the students you teach.
- Guiding, motivating, and supervising classroom helpers in their responsibilities.
As a Team Member, you will:
- Work with staff on long-term planning projects.
- Share collective responsibility for school-wide displays.
- Participate in the organization and execution of assemblies.
- Offer and receive guidance on matters impacting the overall performance and ethos of the school.
- Share your expertise with fellow colleagues.
- Engage in appraisal processes and in-service training for your personal, professional, and career development.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant teaching experience in early childhood education.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field from an accredited university or college, which requires no less than 3 years of full-time study.
- Teaching certificates, diplomas, or other teacher accreditation courses and certifications are required if the applicant's degree is not in Education.
- IB PYP or IPC training is highly preferred.
- A foundational knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, inquiry-based learning is essential.
- Applicants must provide original copies of their certificates and academic transcripts for verification purposes.
- International experience, especially in Asia, is greatly valued.
