DUTIES:
As the Indigenous Curriculum and Pedagogy Consultant (ICPC), you will report to the Associate Vice-President of Academic Quality and Excellence. This pivotal role is focused on advancing reconciliation and Indigenization within the institution. The ICPC will lead and support initiatives aimed at integrating Indigenous knowledge, philosophies, and pedagogical approaches into UCN’s academic programs and curricula. You will collaborate closely with faculty, the Council of Elders, community Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous communities to ensure that Indigenous perspectives are authentically woven throughout various disciplines. Additionally, you will play a significant role in strengthening UCN’s connections with Indigenous communities and furthering the institution’s commitment to reconciliation, decolonization, and the respectful incorporation of Indigenous worldviews in education.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master’s degree in Indigenous Studies or Education, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, including practices related to Indigenous knowledge, concepts, and pedagogies.
- Experience working alongside Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
- Familiarity with traditional knowledge.
- Ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of individuals.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management capabilities.
- A dedication to lifelong learning.
ASSETS:
- Experience in teaching or working in a post-secondary educational context.
- Background in curriculum design and development.
- Proficiency in an Indigenous language.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s license is necessary due to required travel.
