Job Description

- Deliver the prescribed curriculum while demonstrating current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter.
- Plan and conduct engaging lessons to inspire students, utilizing appropriate materials and classroom settings to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Provide written evidence of lesson planning and preparation upon request, and maintain thorough records of curriculum maps, year plans, attendance, teaching resources, and assessment strategies.
- Ensure adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Instruct assigned students according to their unique needs, employing suitable teaching strategies to support various abilities, including late entrants, ESL learners, and students with different academic strengths.
- Assign and evaluate student work, assess, document, and report on academic growth, progress, and achievement, ensuring that assessments align with individual student needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing media and technology within the classroom.
- Foster the overall development and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational matters.
- Communicate with external parties, such as Ministry of Education officials, when necessary.
- Engage in appraisal and Performance Management processes, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Collaborate with colleagues to prepare and develop teaching materials, resources, curricula, and pastoral care arrangements.
- Participate in and, when appropriate, lead co-curricular and extra-curricular activities within the school, encouraging positive working relationships through collaborative leadership and sharing of ideas and resources.
- Monitor and supervise students to ensure safe and appropriate behavior, implementing strategies to foster self-discipline and manage any disruptive actions.
- Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and understanding, nurturing a passion for learning.
- Assist in organizing school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days.
- Regularly communicate with parents, advocating for the GEMS philosophy and core values, while keeping them informed about their children’s progress and respecting confidentiality regarding student information.
- Demonstrate a commitment to going above and beyond the standard work hours when tasks necessitate additional effort.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
- Undertake other responsibilities as requested by direct and indirect supervisors.
We are seeking Homeroom Teachers who are interested in taking on additional responsibilities, such as English/Math Subject Leader roles.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Classroom Education/Education or a Bachelor’s Degree + PGCE in Education.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient ICT skills.
- Excellent time management abilities.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- IELTS Academic score of 7.5.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in reputable schools, with a background as a Homeroom Teacher.
