The Sahtú Divisional Education Council is currently on the lookout for qualified individuals to fill the role of High School Teacher.

We are eager to find a candidate who can begin immediately to address a current opening, with the position extending through the 2026 - 2027 academic year. We are, however, flexible regarding your specific start date during the hiring discussions.
Ideal qualifications and experience include:
- A valid or eligible NWT Teaching Certificate
- A Bachelor of Education degree, along with experience teaching at both junior high and high school levels
- Knowledge of the curricula for grades 8 - 12 in British Columbia, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories
- The capability to Indigenize content and teaching methods to boost student success
- Strong teamwork abilities, as educators will collaborate to enhance student performance in numeracy and literacy for junior high and in competencies of NWT capable persons at the high school level
- A dedication to fostering robust community ties and actively participating in the dynamic cultural and extracurricular offerings of the school
- While specialization in high school subjects is desirable, the ability to teach a diverse array of high school courses in accordance with the transition to the BC curriculum is crucial
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $95,232 to $153,748 annually, plus a competitive benefits package that features a Northern Living Allowance of about $29,000 and relocation support.
