The Garden Hill Anishininew Nation Education Authority is inviting applications for the position of High School Mental Health Counselor, focused on providing support to students in Grades 6 through 12. The successful candidate will offer a range of comprehensive, culturally aware mental health services within the educational setting, promoting personal, academic, social-emotional, and career development for students.
Position Responsibilities
- Deliver a full spectrum of personal, academic, and career counseling services
- Conduct individual and small group counseling sessions
- Develop and execute preventive and proactive mental health strategies
- Identify student needs early and coordinate appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with school administration and community partners to respond to crises
- Provide students and families with information regarding community resources and services
- Work in partnership with teachers, Educational Assistants, school administration, and external service providers
- Keep accurate documentation while adhering to professional confidentiality standards
Qualifications
- Must be eligible for professional registration in Manitoba
- Experience working with adolescents (ideally in Grades 6–12)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and strength-based practices
- Experience in Indigenous or northern community contexts is an asset
