About This Role
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Head of Physical Education to guide and enhance the PE department for the upcoming academic year. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional educator with a solid background in leadership and substantial experience in teaching GCSE and A Level Physical Education. This pivotal middle leadership position encompasses responsibilities such as curriculum development, ensuring teaching excellence, fostering staff growth, and championing a culture centered on health, fitness, and competitive sports throughout the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and advance the PE department within both Secondary and Sixth Form settings
- Provide exceptional teaching and learning experiences in GCSE and A Level PE
- Create and execute a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking PE curriculum
- Track student progress, assessments, and exam results
- Offer support and mentorship to PE staff, including performance evaluations and professional growth opportunities
- Organize and supervise extracurricular sports activities, fixtures, and events
- Encourage student wellbeing, teamwork, and a lifelong passion for physical activity
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations at all times
- Engage in whole-school initiatives and contribute to the broader school community
