About This Role

Job Title: Head of PE and Leadership & Service Coordinator

Line Manager: Head of Upper School / Head of Lower School

Purpose of Job


Work collaboratively with the Heads of Schools to promote, evaluate, coordinate, and enhance the objectives and standards of Harrow Chongqing within the PE department and other relevant areas. Cultivate a vibrant and successful sports community that embodies the values and strategic goals of the school.


Direct the PE Department regarding all facets of the PE curriculum throughout the institution, ensuring that Physical Education supports the physical, social, and emotional health and well-being of our students and the wider community. Develop avenues for students of all ages and skill levels to engage in and thrive through a variety of sports and activities.


Manage all aspects of sports provision across all school levels. Formulate a clear strategy aimed at fostering sporting excellence at Harrow Chongqing while promoting participation from students of all abilities in sports for enjoyment, health, competition, and lifelong involvement.


Play a key role in registering the school with sporting organizations for collaborative initiatives, such as the Harrow Games.


Supervise the planning of school sports fixtures, including organization and staffing to ensure a comprehensive sporting program exists that nurtures the talents of more gifted students, aiding them in reaching their potential.


Concentrate on supporting staff to attain the highest standards in teaching and learning, taking responsibility for the curriculum's advancement, and contributing to the professional growth of PE teachers and staff.


Coordinate schedules and excursions for Challenge Week, collaborating with the Head of Upper School/Head of Lower School to integrate curriculum elements with physical challenges.


Inspire, empower, and guide students, enabling them to thrive as independent and accomplished learners who develop lifelong values, passions, and skills. Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the subject to ensure that all students can fully achieve their potential in their studies.


The responsibilities outlined are not exhaustive and may evolve with the changing needs of the School. Flexibility in work hours will be essential. The successful candidate is expected to take an active role in after-school activities, Saturday coaching sessions, fixtures, and organizing and/or accompanying sports trips throughout the year.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
