Key Responsibilities
Lead, cultivate, and inspire the I&S department to provide exceptional, inquiry-based learning that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a true passion for mathematics. Supervise the planning and implementation of a cohesive I&S curriculum that aligns vertically and horizontally with IB philosophy and assessment standards. Foster and maintain a positive, inclusive departmental culture that emphasizes high expectations, collaboration, and continuous enhancement. Support and mentor teachers within the department through lesson observations, professional discussions, and coaching to improve teaching and learning outcomes. Ensure effective differentiation and inclusive practices across the department to cater to the needs of all learners, including EAL, gifted students, and those needing additional support. Champion the strategic use of assessment data to monitor progress, guide intervention strategies, and enhance student achievement. Advocate for the intentional integration of technology and innovative teaching methods to boost engagement and deepen understanding of mathematics. Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-curricular teams to support school-wide initiatives, curriculum development, and strategic goals. Actively engage with parents and the broader school community regarding curriculum matters, student progress, and departmental initiatives. Contribute to the broader school life through co-curricular activities, events, and academic enrichment opportunities. Exemplify and uphold GEMS values and the IB Learner Profile, promoting professional growth, reflective practices, and a culture of lifelong learning.
