Brookes Moscow, a distinguished international school with a profound global educational influence, is inviting applications for the Head of Inclusion position.

The Head of Inclusion (SENCO) is tasked with both strategic and operational leadership in the realm of inclusive education across the school. This role guarantees that students with additional learning needs receive customized, high-quality support within the framework of the American curriculum, which includes differentiation, accommodations, and access to Advanced Placement (AP) courses. The SENCO works closely with educators, university counselors, learning support staff, and families to cultivate an environment where every student is acknowledged, supported, and encouraged to thrive.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic oversight for all inclusion aspects within the school, ensuring alignment with American curriculum standards, whole-child support models, and international best practices.
  • Supervise the identification, assessment, and monitoring of students facing learning challenges, behavioral issues, sensory processing difficulties, giftedness, and other additional needs.
  • Coordinate the development and quality assurance of Individual Support Plans; ensure these plans are regularly reviewed, updated, and effectively communicated.
  • Assist educators in adapting instruction through differentiation, tiered intervention strategies, and evidence-based approaches for diverse learners.
  • Facilitate training sessions and coaching for teachers on inclusive instructional practices, support for executive functioning, and classroom management techniques.
  • Collaborate with school psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and counselors to deliver multidisciplinary support.
  • Create effective communication channels with families; hold regular parent meetings, workshops, and consultations regarding student progress and support strategies at home.
  • Maintain comprehensive records, including safeguarding documentation, assessment data, and updates of ISPs in line with school policies.
  • Conduct observations, student case reviews, and classroom walkthroughs to ensure the quality of educational delivery.
  • Oversee the inclusion team (learning support teachers, shadow teachers, teaching assistants), including training, scheduling, performance management, and professional development planning.
  • Ensure that all practices comply with safeguarding policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of SENCO / Learning Support leadership experience, preferably in an international or bilingual educational environment.
  • Experience in conducting and analyzing formal and informal assessments (academic, behavioral, sensory, cognitive).
  • In-depth knowledge of autism spectrum profiles, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, executive dysfunction, and emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • Ability to mentor teachers, lead training programs, and provide guidance on curriculum adaptations, behavior support strategies, and progress monitoring.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the capacity to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and external professionals.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and case management abilities.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of Russian is advantageous but not required.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Commitment to child safeguarding and ethical practices.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
