About This Role

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an energetic and knowledgeable leader who is committed not only to personal advancement but also to fostering the success of their teams and the students they mentor. The perfect candidate will have a proven track record of cultivating a culture of excellence among both staff and students. This position requires an individual who can set high expectations while maintaining a compassionate and understanding approach, effectively communicating in a way that nurtures an inclusive and motivating educational environment.

This role offers the opportunity to drive innovation through evidence-based approaches in curriculum and teaching practices. You will strengthen an already vibrant team culture by participating in collaborative planning, providing professional mentorship, and delivering constructive feedback. Our mission goes beyond achieving strong academic outcomes; we also strive to help students grow into confident, enthusiastic learners eager to reach their full potential.

At St Andrews International School Bangkok, we believe that understanding each child is pivotal to effective education. Our classrooms are welcoming and stimulating places where students feel empowered to explore, learn, and grow.

Inspiring Learning and Development

As the Head of the English Faculty, you will lead efforts to enhance outstanding teaching and learning within the department. You will support educators in creating positive classroom environments and adapting their teaching methods to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and interests of students.

You will promote innovation within the faculty by engaging with current educational research and modern pedagogical techniques. Collaborative planning is a vital component of our approach, and you will work closely with colleagues and Heads of Subject to create cohesive learning experiences and identify cross-curricular opportunities.

In overseeing a large and diverse team of educators, you will have a solid history of improving student performance. As Head of English, you will oversee the collection and analysis of academic data, assisting teachers in understanding attainment and progress metrics to inform curriculum development, Schemes of Work (SoW), and assessment approaches.

All High School students receive English instruction. During Key Stage 3, our Schemes of Work are primarily based on the English National Curriculum, adapted to reflect our location in Southeast Asia and the diverse international composition of our student body.

Students advance to IGCSE English Language and English Literature in Years 10 and 11. Students who are English Language Learners (EAL) will receive support within these programs when possible, though some may take IGCSE English as a Second Language.

At Key Stage 5, all students engage with English as part of their graduation requirements. They can choose from English Literature, English Language and Literature, English B, or English: Language and Culture in the IB Diploma Programme or IB Career-related Programme. Additionally, some students may opt for school-based English courses.

We welcome applications from teachers with a range of experiences. Familiarity with teaching IB or A Level English Literature or Language and Literature would be advantageous.

Collaborating as a Professional Team Member

Joining our team means aligning with common goals and making a positive impact on our school community. You will contribute to curriculum development, participate in professional learning opportunities, and uphold high standards in assessment and reporting.

Professional Development

We place a strong emphasis on professional growth and provide access to Nord Anglia University’s professional development platform. Teachers collaborate within Professional Learning Communities, Triads, and WalkThrus, with opportunities for leadership development and postgraduate study. Apply via the WhatSchool platform.
