GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is looking to hire an exceptional Head of Business and Economics to start in August 2026. The ideal candidate will manage a high-achieving department, ensuring outstanding teaching, impressive academic results, and a curriculum that equips students for their future endeavors.
Job Purpose:
The Head of Business and Economics is responsible for providing both strategic and operational leadership to the department for Key Stages 4 and 5. This position is centered on delivering a top-notch curriculum, fostering staff development, and ensuring that all students reach their maximum potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum in Business, Economics, and vocational courses.
- Ensure high standards of teaching and uniformity across the department.
- Monitor and assess student performance, applying targeted interventions as necessary.
- Oversee assessment procedures, including BTEC verification and exam readiness.
- Lead, mentor, and develop teaching staff through coaching and performance management.
- Foster a collaborative team environment with high expectations for both staff and students.
- Communicate with parents through reporting and participation in school events.
- Establish connections with universities, industries, and external partners.
- Contribute to the school's self-evaluation, preparation for inspections, and improvement strategies.
- Support whole-school initiatives, including literacy, inclusion, and digital learning.
- Encourage enrichment opportunities and assist students in their career pathways.
