About This Role
Foundation Stage Assistant Headteacher
Kings’ School Al Barsha is seeking an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to join our dynamic and successful Primary Leadership Team, commencing in August 2026.
The successful applicant will have a proven history in both leadership and teaching, playing a crucial role in upholding high standards within the Foundation Stage/EYFS phase.
This individual will work in partnership with others to spearhead school-wide improvement initiatives and will report directly to the Primary Headteacher.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education.
- Possess a PGCE/PGDE and QTS, ideally.
- Bring a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in the education field.
- Have recent leadership experience in a Primary setting, demonstrating the ability to inspire and motivate teams towards achieving excellence while ensuring accountability.
- Build supportive and positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- Show the capacity to develop innovative solutions to overcome obstacles to success.
- Be proactive in enhancing their own practices and those of others in line with evolving expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Quality
- Oversee student progress, departmental outcomes, and curriculum standards.
- Assist teachers in effectively using baseline data, establishing targets, and guiding students.
- Ensure that academic systems, such as the school’s MIS and Self Evaluation Form, are kept updated and effective.
- Evaluate and assess teaching quality, leadership, and student achievement, including learning environments.
Staff Development and HR
- Support the recruitment, development, and appraisal processes for staff.
- Lead professional development initiatives and empower middle leaders.
- Manage HR concerns, including attendance, disciplinary issues, and performance reviews.
Strategic Leadership
- Prepare for DSIB/BSO inspections and supervise the academic action planning process.
- Contribute to the strategic school development plan by setting measurable academic success goals.
- Ensure effective collaboration among leadership, staff, and the governing body to fulfill school objectives.
Operational and Administrative Management
- Oversee timetabling, daily cover arrangements, and the coordination of internal and external examinations.
- Manage academic spaces and ensure the efficient use of resources, including ICT.
- Communicate curriculum updates and academic progress to parents promptly and clearly.
Pupil Performance and Enrichment
- Foster a strong culture of high expectations regarding behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
- Develop and manage enrichment opportunities that challenge and motivate both students and staff.
Communication and Community Engagement
- Build positive relationships with parents, staff, and students, ensuring effective communication.
- Represent the school at community events and maintain an active presence in school life.
- Support marketing initiatives to celebrate and showcase academic achievements.
