About This Role

GEMS Cambridge International School, Abu Dhabi is seeking a passionate English Teacher (KS3/4) to become part of our team starting in August 2026. The ideal candidate will motivate and engage students in Key Stage 3 and 4, delivering exceptional English lessons that foster critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for reading and writing. Overall Function and Purpose:

Your role will be to educate students in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework, under the supervision of the relevant educational authority. You will teach and evaluate students based on their educational needs, delivering the appropriate curriculum to ensure each student reaches academic success while also contributing to the broader school community.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the prescribed curriculum, showcasing accurate and up-to-date knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment that promotes optimal student outcomes.
  • Plan, prepare, and conduct lessons tailored to the diverse abilities of all students in the class.
  • Teach in alignment with the educational needs, capabilities, and achievements of individual students and groups.
  • Work towards implementing the school development plan.
  • Assign, correct, and grade students’ work following the school's marking policy.
  • Set high expectations for every student, aiding them in achieving their potential and maintaining high standards in their workbooks.
  • Assess, document, and report on the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of students.
  • Analyze data to adjust classroom practices to ensure all students reach their full potential.
  • Provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports, and references for individual or groups of students.
  • Participate in the national framework for evaluating student performance.
  • Promote the overall progress and well-being of individual students or groups assigned to you.
  • Offer guidance on educational and social matters, as well as future education and goals.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and cooperate with other school staff, including those with special responsibilities, as well as parents and guardians.
  • Review and assess your own teaching methods and strategies in line with the National Curriculum Framework guidelines to enhance classroom learning.
  • Advise and collaborate with the Head of School, Deputy Heads, Assistant Head Teachers, Heads of Years, and other educators in curriculum design, teaching materials, programs, and pastoral care arrangements.
  • Uphold high standards of professional practice and quality in teaching and learning. Engage in reciprocal peer reviews and observe teaching practices as part of departmental collaboration.
  • Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) and engage in action research.
  • Maintain discipline and organization among students, ensuring their health and safety at all times.
  • Report any concerns that may compromise student safety, whether emotional or physical, to the school's safeguarding officer.
  • Attend staff, group, or other meetings related to school curriculum or pastoral care arrangements to enhance school organization and administration.
  • Contribute to the professional growth of new and student teachers as agreed with the Head of School.
  • Provide necessary information and support to designated personnel and manage requisitions related to your assigned subjects.
  • Ensure the secure storage and optimal use of classroom equipment, overseeing its regular maintenance.
  • Safeguard the laptop, whiteboard pen, and remote provided at the start of your employment.
  • Attend school assemblies and parent gatherings as required by the Head of School.
  • Participate in termly parent meetings as outlined in school policy.
  • Monitor and register the attendance of students.

Compensation
