Location: Chief Paskwa Education Centre Elementary School, Pasqua First Nation, Saskatchewan, Canada

Position Overview:
Chief Paskwa Education Centre is seeking a compassionate and skilled Elementary School Counsellor / Mental Health Therapist to become part of our educational team. This role is dedicated to enhancing the mental, emotional, and social well-being of our students through counselling, crisis intervention, and mental health initiatives, all within a culturally responsive and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate both individual and group counselling sessions for students.
- Provide crisis intervention and short-term therapeutic support.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, Elders, and community partners to improve student well-being.
- Develop and lead workshops, programs, and activities focused on promoting mental health and resilience.
- Maintain confidential and accurate case records in accordance with professional standards.
- Integrate culturally relevant approaches and First Nations perspectives into counselling practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- Must possess valid registration in good standing with the appropriate professional college or association (e.g., Saskatchewan College of Psychologists, Saskatchewan College of Social Workers, Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, etc.).
- Preferred experience working with youth in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and strength-based approaches.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Additional Assets:
- Experience within a First Nation community or educational facility.
- Proficiency in an Indigenous language or the ability to understand one.
