Overview
Taipei European School is eager to recruit a Class Teacher (EYFS/KS1) with Head of Year Responsibility for the British Primary Section, commencing in August 2026. We seek a committed and enthusiastic educator with a robust background in Early Years education and proven leadership skills to effectively support and guide a year group.

Head of Year Responsibilities
Year Group Leadership:
- Manage and oversee a designated year group, fostering a nurturing and positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to deliver a comprehensive and engaging curriculum tailored to the academic needs of students.
- Plan or assign the planning of educational trips and outings for the year group, ensuring oversight throughout.
- Provide daily management for year group team members and supervise their annual performance review process (goal setting, monitoring, and assessment), including conducting lesson observations.
- Support and onboard new team members as needed.
- Efficiently manage the year group budget and resources.
- Arrange for cover of absent staff to maintain continuity of learning when necessary (e.g., phonics, interventions).
Pastoral Care:
- Monitor student behavior within the cohort and collaborate with your team to create strategies that promote the school’s community values and learner profile.
- Stay informed about student behavior in the group and be available to assist team members with any student-related concerns.
- Implement and manage pastoral care initiatives, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
- Ensure understanding and adherence to the school’s behavior policy and reporting protocols within your year group, including the use of CPOMS for safeguarding issues.
- Oversee the transition of new students within the year group and provide support as needed.
Planning and Curriculum Development:
- Work closely with Curriculum leads and SLT to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies.
- Supervise and document collaborative planning (long, medium, and short term), ensuring alignment with curriculum standards, HQLT, Global Citizenship expectations, school values, and learner profile.
- Ensure the effective and consistent integration of technology throughout the year group to enhance student learning and equip them with essential digital literacy skills.
Data Analysis:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret student performance data for the year group to inform instructional decisions and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement strategies aimed at addressing academic challenges and enhancing student achievement.
Parental Engagement:
- Cultivate open and proactive communication with parents to foster a strong partnership in supporting student learning and development.
