Director of Sport – Whole School

GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail is looking to hire an exceptional Director of Sport to begin in August 2026.

The Director of Sport will provide visionary leadership for the school's athletic programs, establishing a high-performance framework that encourages excellence, participation, and student wellbeing. This position emphasizes the creation of pathways for elite athletes, management of both competitive and recreational sports, and enhancing the school’s reputation as a premier sports institution on both local and international stages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct the creation and execution of the comprehensive sports strategy for the entire school.
• Foster a culture of excellence, participation, and wellbeing among all students.
• Design pathways for elite athletes in Tennis, Swimming, and Football.
• Oversee the administration of sports scholarships, which includes recruitment and monitoring of performance.
• Manage all competitive teams, fixtures, and competitions for students in Year 3 through Year 13.
• Ensure adherence to regulations set by DASSA, DSG, and BSME.
• Provide a diverse and inclusive recreational sports and extracurricular activities program.
• Lead the planning of national and international sports tours and events.
• Cultivate and maintain partnerships with external academies and service providers.
• Supervise sports facilities, manage resources, budgets, and equipment.
• Monitor participation and performance data to facilitate athlete development.
• Create opportunities for student leadership within the sports program.
• Guide and support the PE and coaching staff team.
