About This Role

Are you a qualified Teacher of the Deaf looking for a leadership role with flexibility? Or an experienced SEND teacher looking for your next specialist step?

At Meridian, our successful Local Authority Resourced Provision (LARP) is at the heart of our inclusive community school. We are aspirational for our 12 deaf children and are looking for an experienced or flourishing leader to join our team as our new Lead Teacher of the Deaf.

The role: A Balance of Teaching and Leadership

We have designed this role to provide the time to lead effectively:

  • Every Morning: Teaching a small group of deaf children alongside some of their hearing peers, fostering a truly inclusive environment of reverse inclusion.

  • Three Afternoons: Dedicated time for the leadership of the LARP and your own PPA.

  • Full-time option: For candidates seeking a 5 day contract, the remaining two afternoons will include some additional teaching or whole school leadership responsibilities.

  • Flexibility: We are happy to discuss part-time or full-time options and how two teachers could split these responsibilities in a job share.

We are looking for an excellent teacher who is either:

  • A Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (ToD) - Ready to collaborate with our school community and continue to strengthen our aural/oral deaf provision.

  • An Aspiring Specialist - A strong SEND practitioner with some experience of deafness and a desire to specialise. We will fund and support your mandatory qualification to become a Teacher of the Deaf.

  • Compensation

    £30,000 - £46,525 (MPS/UPS Scale)
*Estimated range based on regional data averages.
