Primary Responsibility:
The successful applicant will create and implement a high-caliber Music program that employs a dual-language (Chinese/English) immersion strategy, enhancing both musical skills and language development. The Bilingual Music Teacher will also be responsible for conducting certain Music classes in the Mainstream Programme in English.
Specific Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
- Collaborate with the Head of Department to revamp the existing Music curriculum into a unified bilingual framework that integrates diverse cultural perspectives and methodologies.
- Provide outstanding instruction in both English and Chinese across the Mainstream and Bilingual Programmes, ensuring students develop musical competencies and technical vocabulary in both languages.
- Produce culturally relevant bilingual resources by revising current English-language lesson plans and materials.
- Leverage music as a medium for language immersion, allowing students to attain fluency through practical learning experiences.
- Integrate Chinese musical traditions and cultural heritage into the established curriculum to offer a well-rounded global perspective.
- Assist the HoD in the selection and acquisition of bilingual resources, tools, and media that enhance the dual-language approach.
- Tailor music techniques and language complexity to accommodate the varying levels of English and Chinese proficiency among students.
- Plan and coordinate Music Concerts that highlight the achievements of both mainstream and bilingual learning, showcasing musical progress to the school community.
- Cultivate a classroom environment featuring bilingual signage and references to diverse cultures.
- Maintain regular communication with the HoD about the effectiveness of the bilingual curriculum and suggest adjustments based on student progress.
- Partner with homeroom teachers to develop interdisciplinary projects that connect music with history and culture.
- Lead music-focused workshops for school-wide cultural festivals and events, promoting a deep appreciation for both Chinese and global music.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Represent the school and its decisions during interactions with students, staff, and the broader community.

- Assist with specific administrative tasks related to the daily operations of the school as requested by the Principal or Senior Leadership Team.
- Report any concerns regarding Health and Safety, discipline, or personal issues to the HoD.
- Inform the designated safeguarding team of any child safeguarding concerns.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A Bachelor's degree in Music, Education, or a related field, accompanied by a teaching qualification.
