About This Role

Crescendo HELP International School is on the lookout for outstanding candidates to fill the role of Primary Assistant Principal. We are in search of a motivated and vibrant leader eager to become a part of our team.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide leadership, development, and management for excellence in pastoral and academic care within the Primary School, while also identifying students who may require support. This role includes collaboration with the inclusion team and EAL Teams in the Primary School.

- Collaborate with the School’s Counsellor teams and coordinate with the Secondary School Pastoral Team as students transition to the next phase of their education.
- Aim to enhance student achievement and elevate the quality of teaching and learning at the School.
- Work closely with Curriculum Leadership Teams, Heads of Year, Mile Post Coordinators, and individual teachers to ensure teaching practices positively influence learning and that students reach their full potential.
- Partner with the Head of Primary to ensure that teaching staff are actively involved in professional growth in conjunction with the Whole School Deputy Principal for Professional Learning.
- Contribute to the overall well-being and education of all students in our care, participating in leading, developing, and maintaining the School’s mission and vision.

- Lead and facilitate the sharing of best practices.
- Lead with humility, develop teams, and provide support and mentoring to others.
- Maintain an active and visible presence within the School community.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Principal will complement and support the existing leadership structure, encompassing a range of responsibilities such as curriculum development, assessment for progress and outcomes, pastoral care and well-being, quality assurance, and various leadership and management roles across Mile Post and Year groups, alongside specific areas from the strategic plan that reflect the school’s priorities.

1. Leadership: In terms of care, guidance, and support, the Assistant Principal will:

- Oversee the development and implementation of care guidance and support programs.
- Ensure effective care is provided for all students, addressing matters such as uniform, significant discipline issues, learning support provision, and attendance record-keeping.
- Assist staff in managing issues related to students in the primary school.
- Meet with parents and students regarding pastoral issues as necessary.
- Provide timely and effective communication to staff, students, and parents regarding student management and well-being matters.
- Facilitate conflict resolution among staff, students, and/or parents.

2. Teaching & Learning:

- Ensure that all teaching staff are well-informed about contemporary evidence-based pedagogies and lead their development in priority areas.
- Collaborate with the Whole School Deputy Principal to ensure seamless continuity and progression across the School’s scope and sequence documents.
- Lead key initiatives in teaching and learning across the School, focusing on Inclusive Education, Literacy, and Numeracy, while promoting technological innovation with the Whole School Deputy.
- Analyze student outcomes (academic, engagement, and well-being) to identify school-wide priority areas related to teaching and learning.
- Build strong working relationships with each Head of Year and Curriculum Leadership Teams to support the planning and implementation of school-wide teaching and learning initiatives.
- Forge a close partnership with the Assistant Principal for Pastoral Care.
- Collaborate closely with the Secondary School Assistant Principal for Teaching & Learning to ensure continuity and progression of the curriculum and staff practices.

3. Administration:

- Ensure all policies are up-to-date and effectively communicated.
- Lead the selection and development process for student leaders.
- Maintain comprehensive records for all students.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and meet deadlines.
- Utilize technology effectively for record-keeping and communication with staff, parents, and students.

4. Leadership of Professional Learning:

- Enhance the culture of professional growth within the School.
- Provide teaching staff with the latest research related to teaching practices.
- Work with Curriculum Lead Teams to identify and support staff professional growth.
- Oversee and support individual teacher development through engagement with their Development Plans.
- Collaborate with the Whole School Deputy Principal to provide and organize professional learning opportunities that support teacher growth in identified school priority areas throughout the year.

5. Learning Outcomes:

- Ensure collaboration between the Pastoral and Curriculum Teams to create optimal conditions for student well-being, engagement, and successful learning.
- In partnership with the Assistant Principal for Pastoral Care, lead the design and implementation of programs that enhance student knowledge, understanding, and skills, enabling them to become successful, confident, and self-regulating learners.
- Ensure that all teaching staff and students effectively utilize the school information management system as a learning and record-keeping tool.
