About This Role

Brighton College Vietnam is looking to hire an AEN Teacher to begin in August 2025. This position is designed to assist in the education and support of students on the AEN (Additional Education Needs) Register. Ideal candidates will have prior experience working with students who have additional needs and possess the knowledge necessary to help them thrive.

The AEN Teacher will primarily work within the prep school, though some responsibilities may extend to the senior school.

In collaboration with the Head of AEN, the AEN Teacher will focus on various aspects of the role at any given time.

Responsibilities

Teaching, Learning & Curriculum:

  • Collaborate closely with students identified as needing additional and different support compared to their peers.
  • Provide support to students in mainstream classroom settings.
  • Offer small group and individual interventions to students.
  • Maintain intervention records to facilitate impact tracking.
  • Consult with fellow teachers to enhance the AEN services offered.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of students on the AEN Register.
  • Assist the Head of AEN in developing intervention strategies.
  • Help plan and facilitate transition activities for Year 6.
  • Work with the Head of AEN and other stakeholders to ensure the needs of students are recognized and met.

The AEN Team:

  • Track students on the AEN Register and assist with the investigation of referred students.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, sharing information regarding student progress promptly.
  • Actively support students in the classroom for data collection purposes.
  • Contribute to the development and updates of learning support plans and one-page profiles.
  • Attend and actively participate in internal meetings to further the department’s objectives.
  • Participate in training sessions.
  • Maintain an open and adaptable approach to change.
  • Work alongside the Head of AEN to keep online registers, intervention records, and report any concerns promptly.
  • Participate in weekly departmental meetings.
  • Assist the team in ensuring that referrals from staff are managed efficiently to enable effective assessment and intervention.
  • Ensure that the learning environment and display areas within the AEN department are well-maintained.
  • Exemplify the values of Brighton College Vietnam daily.

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to possess the following skills, abilities, knowledge, and experience.

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience in AEN teaching.
  • Previous experience in a British curriculum school catering to ages 5-18 is preferred.
  • Teaching experience in AEN within both prep and secondary schools is advantageous.

Personal Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in teaching literacy and numeracy to students with specific needs.
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving abilities with a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Commitment to fostering a holistic approach to student development.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and prompt follow-up.
  • Flexibility in approach to meet the evolving needs of the student cohort.
  • Willingness to engage in the co-curricular program.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience in advising on modified materials and resources for students on the AEN Register.
  • Providing support to targeted students in classrooms, either one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Willingness to assist with invigilation for adjusted access arrangements, such as alternative locations or rest breaks.
  • Experience in monitoring and tracking student progress to help establish clear achievement targets.
  • Strong ICT proficiency.
