Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute departmental policies and practices that embody the School's vision, goals, dedication to high achievement standards, and effective teaching and learning.
  • Formulate, assess, and review short, medium, and long-term development plans for the department.
  • Leverage data effectively to pinpoint underperforming students within the department; create and implement action plans to support those students.
  • Analyze and interpret relevant school data to inform policy decisions and assist in drafting the department's and school's SEF.
  • Ensure that appropriate and relevant schemes of work are created, maintained, and regularly assessed for all year groups and courses, including suitable provisions for SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL students.
  • Ensure comprehensive curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression within the department for all students, including high-achieving students and those with special educational needs.
  • Establish standards for staff regarding achievement levels, quality of teaching and learning, and student conduct.
  • Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department to recognize effective practices and identify areas for improvement, undertaking steps to further enhance teaching and learning.
  • Ensure the department's active involvement in the school's CAS Programme and after-school Booster/Revision Sessions for I/GCSE and IB DP courses.
  • Oversee the team's performance in accordance with the school’s performance management policy.
  • Efficiently and effectively allocate staff and resources.
  • Maintain effective oversight of the Department's Resource and CapEx budgets.
  • Utilize facilities to create an engaging environment conducive to teaching and learning, in alignment with the Learning Environment Policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant subject along with a PGCE or another teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience:

  • A minimum of 6 years of teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of the UK curriculum.

Compensation
