About This Role
We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for an experienced English teacher with a background in Secondary education to become part of our expanding school community in Singapore. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching English to students aged 11 to 16, covering both IGCSE English Literature and English Language. We seek an individual with exceptional subject expertise who can inspire and engage students, fostering achievement and growth across all levels. The successful applicant will demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and a nurturing demeanor towards students. For qualified candidates, there may also be a chance to step into a leadership role within the school.
- Create a dynamic, engaging, and safe learning atmosphere.
- Teach the English curriculum to designated classes according to the School’s timetable.
- Tailor lessons to accommodate the diverse abilities and learning needs of each student.
- Encourage independent learning by implementing teaching strategies that build both competence and confidence among students.
- Ensure the effective execution of subject specifications, teaching plans, assessment policies, and reporting protocols.
- Evaluate and enhance the English curriculum within the school.
- Develop and implement schemes of work, selecting suitable teaching and learning methods that cater to the subject and the varied needs of students.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in English education and adjust curriculum content and teaching methods as necessary.
- Identify suitable resources within the constraints of the school’s budget.
- Create engaging English classrooms that positively influence students’ attitudes toward the subject.
- Regularly assess student work and align homework with school policy.
- Communicate with parents in line with the school’s reporting guidelines.
- Utilize insights from assessments and reporting to drive further improvements in student performance.
- Assume the role of form tutor in the Senior School as needed, fulfilling all associated responsibilities.
- Adhere to the School’s policies and procedures regarding discipline, behavior, daily routines, duties, homework, absences, and visits.
- Participate in co-curricular activities that enrich students’ experiences and contribute to the overall life of the school.
- Advocate for the study of English to both students and parents.
- Experience in supporting EAL/ESL learners and adapting lessons for various language needs is a plus.
- Maintain effective communication with teaching colleagues across all school sections and promote cross-curricular links where applicable.
- Collaborate with the Inclusive Education Team regarding individual student needs to ensure they are understood and addressed.
- Foster connections with the wider community to enhance English studies and improve teaching and learning.
