Job Description
Responsible to: Principal
As a Class Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
•
Recognizing and valuing each child's social, cultural, and religious background while modeling mutual respect and tolerance.
•
Participating in the management of pastoral care, health, welfare, and behavior for all students, especially those in your assigned class.
•
Teaching a class in alignment with the school’s established policies and guidelines.
•
Employing a range of effective teaching and nurturing methods to facilitate high-quality learning experiences.
•
Providing planning documents that outline specific learning objectives, differentiated tasks, special needs, extensions, and assessments to the Principal or designated officer.
•
Maintaining professional communication with colleagues regarding students, while treating all information with confidentiality.
•
Ensuring equal opportunities are provided for every student.
•
Encouraging children to take pride in their environment and to show respect and concern for others, contributing to the school’s caring community.
•
Taking charge of all aspects of classroom management, including the care of equipment, ensuring resources are well-labeled and accessible, and maintaining an organized and tidy classroom.
•
Creating a dynamic and engaging classroom atmosphere that fosters independent learning.
•
Working alongside the Principal and staff to establish and refine effective pupil assessment procedures and moderation portfolios.
•
Keeping accurate records of each child's achievements and providing reports as needed.
•
Building positive relationships with the parents of the children you teach.
•
Guiding, motivating, and overseeing classroom helpers in their roles.
As a Team Member, you will:
•
Collaborate with staff on long-term planning initiatives.
•
Share collective responsibility for school-wide displays.
•
Participate in the management and delivery of assemblies.
•
Provide and receive advice on matters affecting the overall performance and ethos of the school.
•
Share your expertise with colleagues.
•
Engage in appraisal processes and in-service training for personal, professional, and career development.
•
A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant professional teaching experience in early childhood education.
•
Possession of at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Education or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university or college, requiring no less than 3 years of full-time study.
•
Teaching certificates, diplomas, or other teacher accreditation courses and certifications are necessary if the applicant’s degree is not in Education.
•
IB PYP or IPC training is highly valued.
•
Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, inquiry-based learning is required.
•
Applicants must submit original copies of their certificates and academic transcripts for verification.
•
International experience, particularly in Asia, is highly regarded.
