About This Role

UWCSEA Phoenix Swim Team is on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Swim Coach to become part of our team at Dover Campus, with a target start date in August or September 2026. This position will report directly to the Head of Aquatics.

The ideal applicant will effectively lead the Junior Squad and Age Group programs while also supporting coaching efforts at the Senior Squad level. We are in search of a dynamic and adaptable individual who can help foster the growth and continued development of our swim program within a nurturing international school setting.

Please be aware that this is a local contract, and the compensation package does not include housing or tuition fee allowances.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching:

• Collaborate with team members to achieve collective goals and enhance team performance.

• Oversee a Development squad.

• Instruct within the Learn to Swim program.

• Provide support coaching for Senior Squads when required.

• Develop, plan, and deliver technically proficient session plans that align with the overall program philosophy and objectives.

• Track student attendance and progress, providing periodic feedback to parents.

• Manage and achieve targets based on annual plans.

• Assist PE teachers in delivering PE lessons during swim units throughout the academic year.

• View setbacks in coaching as opportunities for growth and improvement.

Operational:

• Ensure the pool area is safe, secure, and well-maintained at all times.

• Keep necessary administrative logs and manage the setup and breakdown of equipment for swim classes and events.

• Maintain an equipment checklist and report any concerns to the Head of Aquatics.

Administrative:

• Aid in coordinating pre-season assessments, registrations, trials, and class placements.

• Help facilitate the sign-up process.

• Address and follow up on parent inquiries via email and phone.

Hosting Meets and Invitationals:

• Complete entries for swim meets and attend to coach at competitions involving the Swim Team.

• Plan sessions and monitor athletes’ performance.

• Assist in ensuring that meets are organized effectively.

• Collaborate with parent and High School volunteers, providing guidance and direction in their supporting roles.

Person Specifications

• Level 2 Coach or UKCC Level 2 certified, or an equivalent international certification.

• A qualified swim coach with at least 2 years of coaching experience.

• Certified as a First Aider.

• Proficient with computers, familiar with Gmail and Google platforms (Experience with Full Solution ACTIVE Hy-Tek Swim Software: Team Manager & Meet Manager is a plus).

• Comfortable using social media responsibly as a tool for promoting learning.

• Capable of working with children across various age groups.

• A team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to multitask and work independently.

• Effective communicator with parents and staff, including public speaking and daily email correspondence, within an international school context.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
