About This Role

Job Overview

The Preschool Principal will oversee the daily operations of the school, ensuring a safe and nurturing learning atmosphere for every student.

This role entails providing leadership across all dimensions of teaching and learning, while also fostering the continuous development of the school in accordance with the priorities set by the Board.

The Preschool Principal will significantly contribute to cultivating a positive school culture, aiding staff development, and guaranteeing the provision of exceptional early childhood education.

Main Responsibilities and Duties


Educational Leadership:


Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement the curriculum.


Create an environment conducive to academic success and track student progress.


Ensure curriculum alignment with Lower Primary for a smooth transition for students.


Assess and evaluate teaching methods and classroom activities.


Facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.


Encourage innovative and effective teaching practices.


Develop a comprehensive school timetable that addresses the needs of all Preschool students within statutory frameworks and available resources (from playgroup to kindergarten).


Promote and uphold relevant school policies pertaining to teaching, learning, and daily operations.


Student Support:


Cultivate a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.


Address and resolve behavioral issues among students.


Engage with parents and guardians to support student development.


Work together with parents to establish a climate of trust, support, and a robust partnership between home and school.


Staff Supervision:


Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and orientation of staff.


Mentor and support teachers in their professional advancement.


Organize staff meetings and professional development sessions.


Actively participate in the appraisal process, offering constructive feedback on teacher growth and performance.


Step in to substitute or supervise in the event of teacher absences or emergencies.


Community Engagement:


Serve as a liaison between the school and the wider community.


Collaborate with parents to foster a climate of trust, support, and partnership between home and school.


Promote the school’s mission and values to parents and community members.


Work as part of a team to organize and engage in school events and activities.


Forge partnerships with local organizations and businesses.


Contribute to developing the school as a community learning center, enhancing relationships with other schools, agencies, and service providers.


Operational Management:


Assist with the enrollment process for new students, including reviewing applications, screening, and conducting interviews.


Support the development and management of the school budget for the academic department.


Contribute to marketing and student retention initiatives in Preschool, while aligning growth with targets established by the Executive Management Board.


Oversee the provision and effective management of school resources.


Participate in the key management team to coordinate emergency response plans and safety drills.


Promote and support all relevant school policies regarding teaching, learning, and daily school operations.


Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure the maintenance and enhancement of school facilities.


Undertake other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.

Be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to leadership when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience


A Bachelor’s degree and teacher certification are essential; a Master’s degree is preferred.


A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a leadership position, ideally in an international school setting.


A robust pedagogical background with a thorough understanding of international programs in Early Years education.


Experience in the recruitment process with the ability to attract and retain highly qualified teachers.


Experience working in a cross-cultural environment.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
