THE ACADEMY
GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is an esteemed private, co-educational IB World School catering to students from PreK through Grade 12. Established in 2008 under the GEMS Education umbrella, we are authorized to offer the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programs, and we hold accreditation from the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

THE ROLE
Our EAL department has significantly enhanced student outcomes and has successfully cultivated a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. This achievement is the result of the staff's dedication, exceptional subject expertise, and the department's innovative approach to data and curriculum development. The EAL department is well-respected among our students for the care and personalized support it provides.

SKILLS
The ideal candidate will possess a proven history of effective teaching and assisting students in achieving success. While experience with the IB Middle Years Programmes and Diploma Programmes is preferred, we welcome outstanding educators from any curriculum background to apply. A commitment to the IB philosophy and the values of the Learner Profile is essential, alongside a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with a non-selective and culturally diverse community. Additional requirements include:
• A Bachelor of Education degree, or an initial degree alongside a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent specialization in EAL
• Advanced qualifications are preferred but not mandatory
• At least 3 years of experience teaching Secondary EAL, ideally in an IB curriculum environment; however, this is not a strict requirement
• A robust understanding of the IB MYP/DP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred
• A strong desire to enhance their practice and deliver exceptional teaching and learning experiences for students
• The experience, character, and educational philosophy that align with a leading IB World School like GEMS World Academy
• Availability beginning August 2026

NEXT STEPS
Candidates selected for further consideration will be invited to an initial screening call, followed by interviews in early 2026, which will be conducted both in person and virtually for positions starting in August 2026. Please note that interviews are by invitation only.
Additionally, we will be visiting the UK in April to conduct in-person interviews.
