Role Overview
The Early Years Headteacher will play a pivotal role as a founding member, responsible for establishing and leading the Early Years program.
In the upcoming Academic Year 2026-2027, your focus will include:
•
Creating and implementing Early Years academic and classroom systems
•
Translating the school’s educational philosophy into everyday EY practices
•
Delivering and exemplifying high-quality Early Years instruction
•
Assisting in teacher preparation and ensuring consistency across EY classrooms
•
Engaging with parents through presentations, playgroups, and weekend family programs
In the subsequent Academic Year 2027-2028, you will take on the role of a homeroom teacher (N, K1, or K2) while leading the Early Years department.
This position is well-suited for an accomplished Early Years educator who is passionate about teaching young learners and establishing effective systems.
•
Develop and implement an Early Years academic framework aligned with UK-based EY methodologies and our educational philosophy
•
Design EY curriculum components, including:
•
Unit themes and learning progressions
•
Scheme of Work and sample lesson plans
•
Daily routines and classroom management systems
•
Experiences centered on play-based and inquiry-based learning
•
Tools for observation and assessment
•
Templates for documentation and reporting
•
Ensure coherence between curriculum, assessment, classroom execution, and child development principles
Classroom Teaching & Practice
•
Lead playgroups and summer camps during the 2026-27 academic year
•
Serve as a homeroom teacher for N, K1, or K2 in the 2027-28 academic year
•
Model exemplary practices in: Play-based learning, Language-rich interactions, Executive function and self-regulation support, Positive behavior guidance
•
Cultivate a classroom atmosphere that encourages: Psychological safety, Confidence and independence, Curiosity and joy in learning
Teacher Support & Collaboration
•
Assist in the onboarding and mentoring of EY teachers and teaching assistants
•
Establish clear expectations for EY classroom routines, planning, and documentation
•
Offer instructional support and informal coaching to promote consistency across EY classes
•
Encourage a reflective, child-centered professional culture within the EY team
Student Wellbeing & Safeguarding
•
Aid in the implementation of wellbeing and safeguarding measures for EY students
•
Maintain precise records of student observations and welfare
•
Ensure that daily routines foster children’s emotional safety and development
Parent Engagement
•
Communicate effectively with parents regarding:
•
Child development
•
Learning methodologies
•
Classroom routines and expectations
•
Facilitate parent orientations, workshops, and events related to Early Years education
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
•
Native English speaker
•
Bachelor's Degree (minimum requirement) in Education or a relevant field
•
At least 3 years of experience as an Early Years homeroom teacher
•
Thorough understanding of the UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
•
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
•
Capacity to develop curriculum plans that address both academic objectives and developmental needs
•
Adept at mentoring and supporting teaching staff to enhance their practice
•
Proficient in using technology for administrative and instructional purposes
