Head of English for Senior School for September 2026
About This Role
Runnymede College, a private non-denominational British school located in Madrid, provides a British education to boys and girls of diverse nationalities aged two to eighteen. Our curriculum is aligned with the British National Curriculum.
Established in September 1967 as a private educational institution, our primary school opened its doors in 1987, and since 1990, the entire school has been situated in La Moraleja, in northern Madrid. The school is structured into three divisions: Pre-Prep (Pre Nursery to Year 3), Prep (Years 4 to 8), and Senior School (Years 9 to 13).
Runnymede College boasts high academic standards. In June 2025, 57% of our students achieved A-A* at A level, surpassing the 48% A*-A grades seen in independent schools across England this year. Additionally, 67% of our pupils secured A*-A grades at IGCSE, which also exceeds the 48% A*-A grades achieved at GCSE in the English independent school sector.
In the graduating class of 2025, 83% of students planning to attend universities in the UK will be enrolling in Top 10 institutions as ranked by the Sunday Times Good University Guide. Esteemed UK universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, and LSE will welcome this year's graduates. Students heading to the US have begun their studies at prestigious colleges like Harvard, Columbia, UPenn, and Brown, among others.
Several of our students will remain in Spain, attending prestigious institutions such as ICADE, IE, and ICAI, while others will pursue their education in leading European universities in France and Ireland.
