About This Role

NIST is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable university counsellor to become part of our team, with an initial emphasis on Thai universities. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in the Thai university admissions landscape and have a demonstrated history of offering insightful guidance to students and their families regarding Thai university options. Collaboration is key; therefore, the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams—including fellow university counsellors, classroom teachers, advisors, counsellors, learning support staff, and the Secondary Leadership Team—is crucial. A proactive mindset, dedication, and a positive attitude are highly valued. An eagerness to learn about other international university systems in the future would be beneficial. Proficiency in both English and Thai is required.

Key Responsibilities



Strong references that highlight a passion for and knowledge of guiding students through Thai university pathways.


A commitment to developing a Thai university counselling program tailored for high school students.


Providing guidance to students and families throughout the Thai university application journey.


Conducting information sessions for parents of various year levels throughout the year, including presentations, workshops, and newsletters, during both daytime and evening hours.


Staying updated on Thai university admission procedures, trends, and testing, and communicating relevant information promptly to students and parents.


Meeting with individual students to discuss their interests and potential university pathways in Thailand.


Counselling, supporting, and assisting students as they navigate the university research process.


Creating an inviting university counselling environment that encourages students to consider their options and find the best fit for their aspirations.


Guiding students in developing the necessary portfolios to achieve their ambitious yet realistic university goals.


Providing support as students draft essays and personal statements to comply with admission requirements and deadlines.


Collaborating closely with fellow university counsellors to help students maintain balanced expectations.


Ensuring the quality of teacher references and writing compelling letters of recommendation.


Meeting with students and their parents to discuss course selections, facilitating informed decision-making.


Maintaining confidentiality regarding student and family information.


Fostering strong and positive relationships with admissions departments at Thai universities.


Contributing to the development of an excellent, user-friendly Thai university counselling website.


Continuing to enhance the success of the school's university fair.


Keeping abreast of developments and trends in the Thai university admissions field.


Demonstrating a commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth.


Ensuring that university counselling processes and practices are well-received by Thai families.


Being approachable and supportive while ensuring students meet their expectations.


Being ready to participate in the school’s Action Week and other related activities.


Carrying out duties in accordance with NIST’s Professional and Child Safeguarding Codes of Conduct.


Supporting the school community, upholding professional standards, and fostering trust.


Completing additional tasks as assigned by the Secondary Leadership Team.

Compensation
