Reports to: Head of Social Sciences / Programme Coordinator

Brookes Moscow, a leading international school renowned for its strong emphasis on global education, is seeking applicants for the position of Geography Teacher. This role entails overseeing the vision, development, and implementation of the school’s extensive Geography curriculum for both Upper and Senior School students.

The Geography Teacher is tasked with optimizing the academic growth of their students and collaborating with peers to enhance the department's initiatives. Teachers are expected to foster a constructive, purposeful, and professional environment that promotes teamwork and healthy challenges, while also recognizing the contributions of individuals to the department's success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach Geography to students in Grades 9–12, including AP Human Geography when applicable.

• Utilize inquiry-based learning, GIS tools, thematic case studies, map interpretation, data analysis, and geographic fieldwork in lessons.

• Design assessments that align with AP standards, including free response questions, document analysis, and extended response tasks.

• Guide students in developing critical perspectives on global concerns such as sustainability, population dynamics, climate change, migration, and geopolitics.

• Embed technology (Google Earth, ArcGIS, data simulations) into educational practices.

• Engage in departmental planning, curriculum evaluation, and resource creation.

• Uphold high academic standards while prioritizing student well-being.

• Show consideration for colleagues' needs in relation to collaboration, collegiality, deadlines, and team unity.

• Actively participate in departmental meetings, adhere to policies, and contribute to the smooth operation of the department.

• Foster professional discussions, exchange teaching ideas, and assist fellow educators in enhancing effective practices and exploring new approaches.

• Engage in and contribute to activities organized by the department and the School.

• Proactively contribute to interdisciplinary links and initiatives, as well as Leadership in Action activities.

• Stay informed on developments within the subject area and in broader educational trends.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

• Teaching qualification is a must.

• Experience in teaching high school Geography; AP teaching experience is highly advantageous.

• Familiarity with inquiry-based and project-based learning strategies.

• Capability to tailor instruction for diverse learning needs.

• Proficient in using digital geography tools.

• Fluent English is essential.

• A culturally responsive approach to teaching, with a strong awareness of safeguarding practices.

• High standards of professionalism and a commitment to child well-being.

• Active and consistent participation in extracurricular activities.

Compensation

$4,000 - $5,500 per month
