Position Overview

JESS Jumeirah Primary School is currently seeking a committed 1:1 Learning Support Assistant. The chosen candidate will assist an individual or small groups of children, promoting engagement in various learning activities throughout the curriculum. Ideally, candidates will hold at least a High School Diploma, with a CACHE Level 3 qualification or its equivalent being a plus. Relevant and recent classroom experience, particularly in a 1:1 context, is essential.

Primary Responsibilities

• Establishing a supportive relationship with the designated pupil.
• Understanding the pupil’s specific needs through collaboration with staff and participating in directed professional development.
• Assisting with in-class learning and social interactions as required, under the direction of the class teacher.
• Monitoring the student's progress during tasks or subjects and, when suitable, stepping back to encourage independence by redirecting focus to other students or tasks.
• Collaborating with teachers to understand lesson plans and adapt resources as required.
• Providing individualized support to the student outside of classroom settings as directed by the class teacher or Oasis Link.
• Tracking the pupil's progress against IEP targets and providing updates to the class teacher and Oasis Link.
• Carrying out break duties.
• Participating in staff meetings when requested.
• Joining field trips as necessary.
• Supporting the Oasis department or relevant year group with cover and/or administrative duties during the student’s absence (e.g., at appointments).
• Complying with all school and authority policies and procedures.
• Being adaptable in response to changing circumstances and guidelines.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
