Aldar Education is seeking a talented Head of Mathematics for the Middle and Senior School at Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi, with the position set to commence in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Responsibilities

Strategic direction and development of the department

  • Develop and implement policies and practices that reflect the School's vision, goals, and commitment to high achievement alongside effective teaching and learning.
  • Create, monitor, and evaluate short, medium, and long-term plans for departmental advancement.
  • Utilize data effectively to identify students needing additional support and formulate action plans to aid their success.
  • Analyze and interpret pertinent school data to inform policy development and contribute to the department/school Self-Evaluation Framework (SEF).
  • Ensure the creation, implementation, and regular revision of relevant schemes of work that address the needs of all year groups and courses, including provisions for SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL students.

Teaching and Learning:

  • Ensure comprehensive curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students, including those with special educational needs and those with high abilities.
  • Establish clear policies and procedures for assessing, documenting, and reporting on student achievements.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies regarding learning and teaching, including the Marking Policy and the Teacher and Learner DNA characteristics.
  • Set high expectations for staff related to achievement levels, teaching quality, and student conduct.
  • Assess the quality of teaching and learning within the department, using findings to highlight effective practices and areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance teaching standards.
  • Ensure the department regularly contributes to the school's ECA Programme and after-school Booster/Revision sessions for I/GCSE and A Level courses.

Leading and managing staff

  • Manage performance evaluations for the team in accordance with the school’s policy.
  • Set clear expectations and nurture constructive relationships within the team, promoting collaboration, support, accountability, and high professional standards.
  • Hold regular departmental meetings with documented minutes and agendas, focusing on enhancing student achievement and teaching practices.

Managing resources

  • Ensure the effective allocation of staff and resources.
  • Maintain oversight of the department's Resource and CapEx budgets.
  • Optimize the use of designated teaching spaces to create an engaging environment for learning and teaching, adhering to the Learning Environment Policy.
  • Ensure a safe working and learning environment with properly assessed risks, in line with Health and Safety policies and regulations.

Other duties and responsibilities

  • Contribute to the school's ECA Programme by leading or assisting with one after-school activity each term.
  • Act as an Academic Mentor for Year 11/12/13 students.
  • Participate in the staff duty rota.
  • Actively engage in the school's pastoral care, taking on responsibilities as a form tutor/link tutor.
  • Provide coverage for absent colleagues.
  • Supervise examinations as required, including at least one evening and one weekend external examination session, to support.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
