About This Role

Uphold and promote the principles and standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values.

Deliver the designated curriculum while showcasing comprehensive and current knowledge of the subject matter.

Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and a classroom environment that accommodates various learning styles.

Provide written documentation of planning and preparation when requested. Maintain thorough records of curriculum outlines, yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, and assessment strategies.

Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently.

Instruct assigned students based on their unique needs by employing teaching strategies that align with their abilities, including those who are late entrants, ESL learners, or identified as gifted and talented.

Assign and evaluate student work, assess, document, and report on students’ academic growth, progress, and achievements, using assessments to tailor the curriculum to individual student needs.

Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing media and technology within the classroom setting.

Foster the overall progress and well-being of students, providing guidance on educational matters.

Engage with external individuals when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.

Participate in performance appraisal processes and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiatives.

Collaborate with colleagues in the creation and development of teaching materials, resources, study courses, and pastoral care arrangements.

Get involved in and, where appropriate, lead co-curricular and extra-curricular activities at the school. Promote positive working relationships by actively sharing ideas, resources, and experiences.

Oversee and manage student behavior to ensure safety and appropriateness. Develop and implement strategies that encourage self-discipline and address disruptive behavior.

Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and understanding, fostering a passion for learning.

Aid in planning and organizing school events and functions such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.

Regularly communicate with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep them informed about their children's progress while respecting confidentiality regarding student information.

Exhibit initiative and dedication beyond the standard work hours when additional commitment is necessary.

Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.

Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by direct and dotted line managers or supervisors.
