Business Teacher
About This Role
This is an excellent chance for an educator with a background in Secondary education and relevant teaching experience to join a vibrant school situated in the heart of Singapore. The candidate chosen for this role will be tasked with teaching Business to students aged 14 to 18. The school offers IGCSE and International A-Level Business programs. The ideal applicant will have a deep understanding of the subject matter and the capability to inspire and engage students, facilitating their success and development across all levels. We are looking for a teacher who exemplifies flexibility, resilience, and a caring attitude towards student welfare. For those with suitable qualifications and experience, there may also be opportunities for a leadership position within the entire school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish and sustain an engaging, dynamic, orderly, and safe learning environment.
• Deliver the Business curriculum to assigned classes in accordance with the School’s timetable.
• Customize lessons to meet the diverse abilities and learning requirements of each student.
• Promote independent learning by using teaching strategies that enhance students’ skills and confidence.
• Ensure thorough implementation of subject specifications, teaching plans, assessment policies, and reporting practices.
• Assess and refine the Business curriculum within the school.
• Develop and execute schemes of work, selecting effective teaching methods that cater to the subject’s demands and students’ varied needs.
• Stay informed on innovations in Business education and adapt curriculum content and teaching approaches as necessary.
• Identify appropriate resources while remaining within the school’s budget constraints.
• Cultivate an inspiring atmosphere in Business classrooms that positively shapes students’ views of the subject.
• Regularly evaluate student work and ensure that homework assignments comply with school policies.
• Communicate with parents in line with the school’s reporting guidelines.
• Utilize information gathered from assessments and reporting to drive improvements in student outcomes.
• Take on the role of form tutor in the Senior School when required, fulfilling the associated responsibilities.
• Follow the School’s policies concerning discipline, behavior, daily routines, duties, homework, leave of absence, and school visits.
• Participate in co-curricular activities that enhance students’ experiences and contribute to the larger school community.
• Promote the study of Business and Financial literacy among students and their parents.
• Experience in supporting EAL/ESL learners and tailoring lessons to meet diverse language needs would be advantageous.
• Maintain effective communication with teaching colleagues across all school sections and encourage cross-curricular collaboration where suitable.
• Work in conjunction with the Inclusive Education Team to ensure individual students’ needs are recognized, planned for, and met.
• Build strong connections with the wider community to expand Business studies and improve teaching and learning.
