About This Role

Are you a passionate and effective educator dedicated to enhancing student achievement in your area of expertise? We invite you to apply for the position of Assistant SENDCo, where you'll play a crucial role in delivering exceptional learning experiences by employing diverse teaching and learning strategies to support student success.

This role calls for a professional who is knowledgeable about improving learning outcomes, stays updated on curriculum developments, and is innovative in devising solutions to boost student performance.

About the role

We are in search of an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant SENDCo to assist in the leadership and development of our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provision. This is a wonderful opportunity for a committed educator to collaborate with our Lead SENDCo, who oversees SEND practices across our community of four schools from Outwood Academy Hemsworth. You will work closely with the Lead SENDCo to ensure that students with additional needs at Outwood Academy Hemsworth receive top-quality support, effective interventions, and inclusive teaching strategies that facilitate their success.

You will partner with the Vice Principal (Deep Learning & Deep Support) and the Inclusion team to develop and implement high-quality inclusive practices. Furthermore, you will offer guidance on interventions, funding applications, and adherence to statutory requirements. By promoting collaboration among colleagues, you will help establish a cohesive support network that enhances the educational experience and outcomes for all students with additional needs. You should either already be a qualified SENDCo or possess the enthusiasm and willingness to pursue the National SENDCo Award at the Master’s level.

The team at Outwood Academy Hemsworth

In this role, you will collaborate with an experienced Senior Leadership Team to guide a talented group of teaching and support staff who are fully dedicated to the vision of elevating standards and transforming the life opportunities of every student. The senior leaders are driven by a relentless commitment to educational quality and a comprehensive curriculum provision. Their leadership fosters a strong sense of belonging and inclusion within the school, promoting the value of education and motivating both staff and students to strive for excellence. Given recent changes in the Inclusion team, we are eager to bring on board a passionate Assistant SENDCo to work alongside the newly formed team and introduce best practices in teaching, learning, and support for our most vulnerable learners.

This is an exciting moment for the school and the wider community, and this role presents a remarkable opportunity to influence the future success of SEND practices throughout the institution. Above all, you will align with the school and Trust’s commitment to prioritizing students, raising standards, and transforming lives.

If you are passionate about making a meaningful impact, we would be thrilled to welcome you into our team.
