We are in search of a passionate and committed Teacher Assistant to become part of our team, with an immediate start available. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, creating a positive classroom atmosphere, and contributing to the broader school community.

Main Purpose of Job:

Assist the Class Teacher in facilitating the learning and achievement of all students in the class.

Maintain and promote high standards of work and behavior in all activities.

Treat students with respect, fostering relationships grounded in mutual respect while always maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

Collaborate effectively with students, parents/carers, governors, colleagues, and external organizations for the benefit of the students.

Adhere to the statutory frameworks that outline professional duties and responsibilities.

Take responsibility for the promotion and safeguarding of the welfare of children and young people at the school.

Key Relationships:

Head of Primary, Head of Key Stage, Primary students and their parents.

Key Responsibilities


Teaching:

Support the Class Teacher in implementing the curriculum.

Prepare and develop teaching materials, programs, and pastoral arrangements as needed.

Assist in tracking the attainment, progress, and outcomes of students under the Class Teacher's direction.

Understand students' capabilities and prior knowledge, planning and differentiating lessons accordingly to enhance learning.

Recognize the needs of all students, including those with special educational needs, gifted and talented students, and EAL, employing distinctive teaching methods to engage and support them.

Promote high standards of literacy, including proper spoken English usage.

If teaching early reading, apply appropriate teaching strategies effectively.

Utilize a variety of observation, assessment, monitoring, and recording techniques to establish challenging learning objectives for all students, monitoring their progress and achievement levels.

Employ assessment strategically to facilitate student progress.

Provide regular feedback to students, both orally and through accurate marking, encouraging them to reflect on their learning and take responsibility for their study habits.

Use relevant data to track progress, set targets, and plan future lessons.

Assign homework and devise additional activities to deepen students' understanding of the material.

Participate in examination and assessment arrangements.

Support extracurricular activities and assist with termly assemblies as needed.

Behaviour and Safety:

Create a safe, purposeful, and stimulating environment for students, rooted in mutual respect, while establishing a framework for discipline using praise, sanctions, and rewards consistently in line with school policy.

Effectively manage the classroom using strategies suited to the needs of the students to inspire, motivate, and challenge them.

Maintain positive relationships with students, exercising appropriate authority and acting decisively when necessary.

Serve as a positive role model, consistently demonstrating the attitudes, values, and behaviors expected of students.

Hold high expectations for behavior, encouraging self-control and independence among all learners.

Carry out playground and other assigned duties, promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, and raising any concerns in accordance with school protocols and procedures.

Team Working and Collaboration:

Attend and engage in weekly staff meetings and professional development opportunities.

Collaborate with team members and identify opportunities for sharing effective practices and development.

Participate in team training and development initiatives.

Ensure that support staff working alongside you are effectively involved in facilitating learning and understand their expected roles.

Contribute as needed to the review, development, and management of curriculum-related activities, organization, and pastoral functions of the school.

Provide cover for lessons and duties for absent colleagues.

Parent, Student, and Community Relationships:

Report any serious student incidents or parent concerns to the Head of Primary or a member of the Safeguarding Team and work collaboratively to address issues promptly and respectfully.

Foster relationships with parents and the community through regular, appropriate communication with all members of the school community. All parent messages will be acknowledged within one working day.

Engage Primary School parents as active partners in their children's learning in various ways.

Ensure that parents/carers are well-informed about the curriculum, student attainment and progress, and how they can support their child's learning, involving students in this process.
