About This Role

The Senior School:

At the Senior School, our academic curriculum is inspired by the finest elements of the UK National Curriculum. Each faculty provides either GCSE or IGCSE courses in E and D Block (Years 10 and 11). In the Sixth Form, students at Rugby School Thailand engage in A Level studies. Currently, there are approximately 350 students enrolled in the Senior section. Additionally, Rugby School Thailand offers a broad range of Enrichment activities.

The architecture of the Senior School is crafted to facilitate an exceptional learning experience. Key facilities include a teaching block, cutting-edge Design and Technology and Art and Design studios, ICT suites, Drama studios, a Black Box theatre, Music classrooms, seventeen music practice rooms, a recording studio, and a dance studio. Our dedicated Science Centre features 13 laboratories and a lecture theatre. The Webb Ellis Centre is home to both 50m and 25m swimming pools, along with a warm-up pool; an air-conditioned basketball stadium; a fitness suite; a gymnasium; and two PE classrooms. Sports facilities are completed by floodlit football fields and tennis courts. The Sixth Form Centre serves as a central hub for Year 12 and 13 students, supporting both independent and group study as they work towards their A Levels.

The Science Department:

The Sciences are delivered within the School’s specialized Science Centre, equipped with outstanding facilities. Faculty members collaborate closely, emphasizing the sharing of effective practices across the various science disciplines.

F Block (Year 9) students participate in a curriculum developed by the department, gaining laboratory experience while establishing the essential skills and knowledge required for their IGCSE studies. F Block students have 8 periods (70-minute lessons) over a two-week cycle for all three sciences. In D and E Blocks (Years 10 and 11), students pursue CIE IGCSEs in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics, or Coordinated Science, depending on their academic interests and abilities, with 4 periods per science per two-week cycle. The sciences are also popular choices for Sixth Form studies, with the Biology department following the Cambridge International A-level curriculum.

The Science Department currently offers various co-curricular activities as part of our program, reflecting our core philosophy of inspiring learning and enhancing our students’ scientific skills and thought processes. Activities include the RST Science Magazine, the Biology Enrichment club, and the ‘Effective Study Skills in Science’ club, among others. Students frequently participate and excel in competitions such as the Biology Olympiad and Biology Challenge, organized by the BBO, as well as the Cambridge Science competition. Additionally, there are many study clubs and clinics available for students seeking extra assistance. Science teachers will be expected to foster interest in and provide support for the sciences beyond the regular curriculum.
