OBJECTIVES
We are seeking a skilled Biology teacher with a minimum of two years of experience in teaching at the Senior/High School level (UK Key Stages 3-5 or equivalent).
Curriculum:
•
Teach Biology (and General Science) within the Science department.
•
Collaborate with the Head of Science and colleagues on the creation of schemes of work, focusing on:
•
Promoting progression for all students
•
Encouraging active learning and engagement
•
Implementing assessment for learning
•
Addressing the needs of all learners, particularly through language support
•
Incorporating ICT
•
Facilitating enrichment opportunities and external partnerships
Learning:
•
Keep current records of student progress across all performance areas
•
Ensure that your students achieve good or exceptional progress in Science
•
Effectively manage issues related to behavior, attendance, and punctuality
Assessment:
•
Conduct regular assessment and marking of students' work, adhering to departmental and school-wide assessment policies
•
Maintain records of student achievement and progress
•
Evaluate student performance against school and national benchmarks at both individual and group levels, taking action to enhance achievement and address any underperformance
•
Provide assessment and feedback
Policy:
•
Participate in relevant meetings
•
Perform any additional duties as reasonably requested by the Master or Head of Science
•
Contribute to departmental development as a member of the Science team
Guidance & Welfare:
When applicable, serve as a form tutor, undertaking the following responsibilities:
•
Oversee the academic and broader development of tutees, aligning with school policies in this area;
•
Review progress and assist students in setting targets and planning actions;
•
Ensure that all students are respected and treated in accordance with the school's objectives.
BASIC QUALIFICATION
Education:
•
Bachelor’s degree (BSc) from an accredited university.
•
Formal teacher training qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).
Major: Biology, Science, or a related discipline
Language: Proficient in written and spoken English
Working experience: At least two years of teaching experience in Biology.
EXPERTISE
•
Strong subject knowledge and a keen interest in recent scientific developments.
•
Experience in designing and implementing curricula for senior school Biology.
•
Familiarity with A-level/GCSE/IGCSE curricula, including their delivery and assessment.
•
Knowledge of differentiated instruction strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs.
•
Competency in formative and summative assessment strategies.
•
Ability to utilize digital learning platforms (Microsoft Teams, etc.) and multimedia tools for language instruction.
PREFERRED APTITUDES
•
A genuine enthusiasm for science and the ability to inspire a diverse range of students
•
Capability to incorporate modern educational technology into teaching methods.
•
