About This Role

KS1 Lead Practitioner:

Kings' School Al Barsha is on the lookout for an exceptional Key Stage 1 Lead Practitioner to become a vital part of our Primary leadership team. This position is perfect for a dedicated classroom educator with a strong enthusiasm for early childhood education and a commitment to providing high-quality, play-based, and experiential learning experiences.

In the role of KS1 Lead Practitioner, you will exemplify outstanding teaching and learning practices, assist fellow educators in delivering exceptional provision, and contribute to shaping a developmentally appropriate, language-rich setting where every child can thrive.

Main Purpose

· Collaborate with the leadership team to achieve outstanding outcomes through exemplary KS1 provision.

· Demonstrate exceptional planning, assessment, and teaching practices to ensure consistent excellence across KS1.

· Spearhead the advancement of play-based, inquiry-led, and experiential learning methodologies.

· Foster language development, early literacy, and communication-rich environments.

· Assist staff in creating inclusive classrooms where all learners, including Students of Determination, can succeed.

Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Curriculum Development

· Inspire and motivate colleagues to provide outstanding KS1 provision.

· Guide the creation of an innovative KS1 curriculum centered around play, exploration, and real-world learning.

· Ensure that learning environments encourage independence, curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

· Develop a collective vision for developmentally appropriate practices across KS1.

· Facilitate effective transitions from EYFS to KS1.

Teaching & Learning Excellence

· Model exceptional KS1 teaching, incorporating play-based and experiential approaches.

· Assist colleagues in delivering high-quality phonics, early reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.

· Encourage language-rich interactions and effective questioning to enhance communication skills.

· Support adaptive teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs.

Coaching & Professional Development

· Offer coaching, team teaching, and model lessons.

· Lead professional development focused on play-based learning, continuous provision, and effective adult interactions.

· Aid in the induction of new staff, ensuring clarity of KS1 expectations and pedagogical approaches.

· Share best practices through research, networking, and action research.

Inclusion & Pupil Progress

· Implement strategies to accelerate progress for all students.

· Advocate for inclusive practices and adaptive provision for Students of Determination.

· Utilize data and observations to identify students who require additional support or challenges.

· Promote language development and early intervention strategies.
