Primary Mentor Key Responsibilities

1. Subject Knowledge

• Adopt an innovative mindset towards curriculum and teaching methodologies, implementing contemporary best practices in education.

• Exhibit a thorough understanding of all primary curriculum subjects, customizing learning experiences to cater to each child's needs, skills, and interests.

• Foster high standards of communication, collaboration, curiosity, and creativity.

• Enhance the development of reading, writing, and mathematics within a primary framework through a thematic curriculum.

2. Curriculum Design and Adaptation

• Develop and plan stimulating learning experiences across all curriculum areas to bolster knowledge and skill acquisition.

• Ensure planning aligns with the National Curriculum while extending learning through the Citizens Tapestry.

• Integrate regional regulatory subjects into the overall learning framework.

• Adapt lessons for students of varying abilities, effectively utilizing digital technologies and resources.

• Connect learning outcomes with formative assessments and employ tracking systems to evaluate progress.

• Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their child's learning and well-being.

3. Learning and Teaching

• Create a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that upholds high expectations.

• Cultivate respectful relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

• Ignite a passion for learning and intellectual curiosity among students.

• Design lessons that are engaging and responsive to the diverse needs and interests of students.

• Embrace inclusion and innovation in teaching methodologies.

• Encourage students to demonstrate integrity, respect, and compassion.

• Recognize the significance of seamless transitions between year groups.

4. Collaboration and Community

• Engage in self-reflection and critical evaluation of teaching effectiveness.

• Be receptive to coaching and appraisal, welcoming constructive feedback for growth.

• Collaborate with peers to develop best practices and exchange ideas.

• Partner with Teaching Assistants and support staff to address student needs.

• Participate in Professional Learning and Development (PLD) and contribute positively to the school ethos.

• Forge strong connections with parents and the community to enhance student learning.

5. Safeguarding, Inclusion and Wellbeing

• Citizens School is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

• We implement rigorous recruitment practices to ensure that all staff and volunteers possess sound moral character and are fit to work with children and young adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to uphold our safeguarding commitment.

• Ensure that learners engage in a personalized educational program that nurtures their skills and abilities.

• Plan, deliver, and review lessons effectively.

• Assess, document, and report on learners' development, progress, and achievements in accordance with school policy.

• Promote positive behavior for learning in alignment with the School’s policies.

• Strive to create a constructive working environment within the subject area that enhances students’ learning experiences.

• Serve as an effective role model for learners through your professional practice.

6. Other Responsibilities

• Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the National Curriculum and adjust teaching practices accordingly.

• Collaborate with colleagues to create effective learning opportunities, especially during transitions.

• All staff members may be asked to undertake additional duties as assigned, in consultation with the Principal.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar or larger organization; data analysis and report development experience is highly valued.

• Robust knowledge of child development, curriculum planning, and early years teaching strategies.

• Proficiency in data analysis and report development is highly desirable.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
