Our primary recruitment phase will entail in-person interviews in the UK with the Principal.

• London – Saturday and Sunday, 28 February–1 March 2026

Position Profile

• Previous teaching experience in the UK is preferred

• At least 2 years of AL/IGCSE teaching experience in the relevant field

• Capability to instruct high-achieving students

• Degree in the subject area for teaching

• Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent)

Specific Responsibilities of Teaching Position

• Design and implement lessons aligned with the Scheme of Work, utilizing a range of learning activities

• Develop and administer assessments according to departmental guidelines and generate reports that fulfill required standards promptly

• Regularly evaluate student performance, offering constructive feedback, and create suitable assessments to track progress and identify areas needing improvement

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a supportive and cooperative working atmosphere, sharing best practices and resources

• Opportunities to teach RPQ (projects) & GNT (Gifted and Talented)

Brief Description of SCIE

A UK curriculum high school offering Cambridge International AS/AL & IGCSE education through the medium of English, primarily to Chinese students preparing for overseas university studies.

Since 2025, we have also introduced an AP stream, providing opportunities for teachers interested in AP instruction across various subjects.

The College's mission is to educate students in a Challenging, International Environment that promotes high academic achievement and nurtures social responsibility, creativity, independence, and enthusiasm, ensuring that each student is well-prepared for future opportunities.

• Instruction and communication conducted in English at AS/AL level, with students performing at a first-language proficiency, primarily studying AS/AL English language or literature in A1/A2

Specific Responsibilities:

We seek a passionate Physical Education teacher with a background in sports or exercise science. Experience in teaching IGCSE/GCSE Physical Education or AS/AL Physical Education is essential. The expectation includes managing at least one sports team, with a preference for experience in coaching volleyball or basketball at the high school level.

Schedule

• Workweek: Monday – Friday 07:50 – 16:40 (with a 07:30 start on Mondays and an early finish at 15:00 on Fridays)

• Standard teaching time – 24 x 40-minute periods weekly (approximately 50% timetable)

• Personal time – 6 periods per week allocated in the timetable when presence at work is not required

• Extra-Curricular Activity – 1 hour per week for ECA after school (16:30 – 17:30)

• CPD – a wide variety of professional development opportunities available both online and in-person

• Holidays – 1 week for the October China National Day holiday, 2 weeks for Christmas holiday, 3 weeks for Chinese New Year holiday, Chinese public holidays, and a summer break from mid-June to early August.

Pastoral

At SCIE, pastoral care is fundamental to our mission. All classroom teachers play a vital role in supporting the overall well-being and safety of students, fostering a sense of belonging throughout their time at the college.

• Form tutor role – most classroom teachers will manage a form group of approximately 20 students. This role includes regular one-on-one mentoring sessions, consistent form time with the group, and teaching a weekly PSHE lesson. As the primary contact for students, form tutors are responsible for building relationships with their tutees beyond the classroom. This role comes with an additional allowance.

• Teachers not assigned a form tutor role may be asked to take on additional pastoral responsibilities as needed.

• Pastoral professional development – beyond annual safeguarding training, there are additional opportunities to enhance your practice in this area and contribute to overall school pastoral development.
