2. Job Summary
The Music Teacher (Musical Theatre & Performing Arts) is tasked with providing exceptional music education focused on musical theatre, performance, and vocal development for students at the international school. This position includes crafting dynamic lesson plans, directing school productions, evaluating student progress, and nurturing a supportive and inclusive educational atmosphere. The teacher is expected to implement various teaching methodologies to accommodate the diverse learning preferences of students while enhancing their musical, theatrical, and performance abilities, as well as their critical thinking and creativity.

3. Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction
Lesson Planning and Delivery:
Create and execute thorough lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum standards and international educational guidelines (e.g., IB, A-Level, or other pertinent performing arts programs).
Conduct engaging and interactive music and performance classes for students ranging from middle to high school.
Integrate elements of musical theatre, including acting, dancing, and singing, to offer a comprehensive performing arts education.
Employ diverse teaching techniques, such as hands-on activities, group collaborations, and technology-enhanced learning tools, to make musical concepts both accessible and enjoyable for students.

Differentiated Instruction:
Tailor instruction to accommodate the unique learning needs of all students, including those with special educational requirements and gifted learners.
Offer additional support and challenges as necessary to ensure every student can advance their musical and performance abilities.

Assessment:
Regularly evaluate student learning through assignments, quizzes, tests, performances, and projects.
Deliver prompt and constructive feedback to students to assist them in enhancing their performance.
Track student progress in music theory, vocal techniques, and performance skills while maintaining accurate records of grades and attendance.

School Productions
Production Planning and Direction:
Plan, direct, and produce annual school musicals or plays, overseeing all aspects from auditions to performances.
Choose suitable musicals or plays that correspond with the school's curriculum and the students' abilities.
Audition and cast students, providing constructive feedback and guidance throughout the casting process.

Rehearsal Management:
Facilitate regular rehearsals, instructing students in vocal techniques, acting skills, and stage movement.
Work in conjunction with the drama, dance, and technical theatre departments to produce cohesive and professional productions.
Ensure students are well-prepared for performances, including coordinating costumes, props, and set design.

Student Development:
Offer individual vocal coaching to assist students in improving their pitch, tone, breath control, and performance confidence.
Encourage students to cultivate their own artistic interpretations and creativity in their performances.
Support students in their preparation for college and conservatory auditions (if applicable) and provide guidance on their artistic journeys.

Classroom Management
Positive Learning Environment:
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere that promotes student participation and engagement in music and performance activities.
Set clear rules and expectations for student behavior during lessons and rehearsals, enforcing them consistently.

Conflict Resolution:
Effectively manage classroom activities, ensuring smooth transitions and maximizing instructional time.
Address student conflicts and disciplinary matters related to music and performance activities professionally, escalating to the appropriate authority when necessary.

4. Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A Master’s degree in Music Education, Musical Theatre, Performing Arts, or a related discipline. A PhD in a relevant field is preferred.

Relevant Teaching Certification
Possession of relevant teaching certification, such as a teaching license recognized in the host country or an international teaching qualification (e.g., IB Educator Certificate, Cambridge International Teacher Certificate).

Experience
A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, ideally within an international school environment.
Experience in instructing musical theatre and vocal performance to students of various ages and skill levels.
Proven experience in directing school productions, including musicals and plays.
