Science Teacher
We are seeking experienced, enthusiastic teachers to join our Secondary team, delivering the ENC and Cambridge curriculum with a focus on strong foundations and preparation for Cambridge IGCSE examinations and future AS/A Level pathways.
Successful candidates will teach Secondary classes from Year 7 to Year 10, with the ability to stretch high attainers while supporting pupils with varied starting points, including EAL learners.
Experienced in delivering Combined Science and/or Co-ordinated Sciences.
Please note: Cambridge AS/A Levels planned to begin from 2028 onwards.
The role
You will:
Teach your specialist subject across Years 7β10, aligned to Cambridge frameworks and IGCSE readiness.
Plan and deliver well-structured lessons that build secure knowledge, skills and exam technique.
Use Assessment for Learning (AfL), alongside effective formative and summative assessment, to inform teaching, identify gaps and misconceptions, and track pupil progress over time.
Contribute to curriculum development, schemes of work, resources and standardisation.
Support pastoral routines, tutor/mentor responsibilities (where required), and a strong culture of positive behaviour.
Communicate professionally with parents and colleagues and contribute to whole-school life.
Person specification
Essential
A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE/BEd or equivalent).
Minimum 2β3 yearsβ teaching experience in your specialist subject and the relevant age range/year levels.
Demonstrable experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE (or closely aligned international programmes), with IGCSE and A Level experience required.
Strong subject knowledge and confident classroom practice, including effective behaviour management.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solution-focused approach.
Secure understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
Desirable
Experience teaching EAL/ESL learners (particularly for the English/ESL post).
Experience contributing to examination outcomes, intervention planning, or enrichment/CCAs.
Experience in international education and adapting to diverse learner profiles.
