Teaching Cover Supervisor

Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential and confident leading a classroom in the absence of a teacher? We are seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and adaptable Teaching Cover Supervisor to join our Education Team and play a vital role in maintaining high-quality learning experiences for our students.

This is a rewarding and varied role where you will supervise classes during teacher absence, support students with their learning, and contribute to the wider educational and pastoral support provided across the school.

What you will do:

• Supervise classes in the absence of a teacher, ensuring students remain engaged in learning activities and follow the work provided.
• Use initiative and creativity where required to support learning and maintain positive classroom environments.
• Work closely with teachers and other colleagues to ensure lessons are delivered effectively and students receive appropriate support.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement, progress, and any issues arising during cover lessons.
• Maintain safe, secure, and inclusive learning environments that support student wellbeing and achievement.
• Support students as part of the wider Student Support Assistant team when not undertaking lesson cover duties.
• Invigilate internal and external assessments and examinations when required.
• Promote safeguarding, health and safety, equality, diversity, and positive behaviour in line with school policies and procedures.

Who We're Looking For:

• Educated to GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Confident communicator with excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
• Confident using Microsoft Office applications and willing to learn specialised systems and software.
• Committed to supporting children and young people, particularly those with disabilities and additional needs.
• Willing to undertake training and model best practice for colleagues when required.
• A strong understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to promoting student welfare.
• HLTA qualification and experience supporting students with special educational needs would be advantageous.
