Located in the picturesque hamlet of Pangnirtung, Nunavut, Attagoyuk Ilisavik accommodates around 250 students in grades 6-12, supported by a dedicated staff of 30. The school and its surrounding community are steeped in Inuit cultural heritage.

Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates do not need to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a dedication to community-focused education are highly regarded.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience in supporting education grounded in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL environments
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian educational contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Experience with contemporary assessment methods to inform learning
- Skilled in fostering a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Proven ability to enhance student wellbeing and engagement
- Experience in connecting with students outside the classroom when appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
- Proven ability to function as part of a school team
- Experience contributing to a community-oriented environment

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Pangnirtung, Nunavut: $19,077
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be necessary

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently employed by the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut are required to provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications without this documentation will not be considered.
