About This Role
Substitute teachers
The Substitute Teacher provides short-term instructional coverage and support when regular classroom teachers are absent. The primary goal is to maintain the continuity of learning by following established lesson plans, engaging students in meaningful activities, and upholding the school’s mission, values, and classroom expectations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Fluent level of English language.
Teacher certification or degree in education.
Experience teaching students in student-centered, inquiry-based learning.
Experience engaging students in active learning that values the diverse input of each unique student and promotes co-constructing knowledge and engaging in concept driven learning and skills development.
Experience using positive classroom management skills in learning spaces that promote student ownership, responsibility, and community.
A positive attitude and willingness to engage as a team to best support students.
Shared commitment to helping students experience a positive class culture and feel belonging in the learning environment.
Experience using observations and in combination with other assessment tasks to monitor student progress and ensure each student is engaged in a meaningful way.
Comfort using a variety of technology tools for both lesson delivery and documenting of student learning.
Ideally, at least two years' experience as a lead teacher.
Comfort having support teachers and other professionals work into the learning environment to meet individual student needs.
IB/DP preferred for substitutions in High School
