Social and Emotional Counsellor
About This Role
In the role of Social and Emotional Counsellor, your primary responsibilities will include: delivering individual and small group counselling sessions to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties through the application of evidence-based therapeutic methods. You will perform initial assessments to determine student needs and facilitate appropriate referrals to external specialists when necessary. Establishing strong, trusting relationships with parents and caregivers will be essential, as you will provide them with guidance and strategies to enhance their child's social and emotional growth at home. You will collaborate with the admissions team to ensure a seamless transition for new students and families into the school community. Close cooperation with teachers, learning support personnel, and school leadership will be vital to foster a uniform and supportive approach to student wellbeing throughout the school. Additionally, you will offer training and advice to staff on recognizing and assisting students with social and emotional requirements. It will be important to keep precise, confidential records of all counselling sessions in accordance with school policies and legal obligations. You are also expected to engage actively in continuous professional development to uphold high standards in counselling practice.
